Shell

Trying to give back a life...
Shell is a 6 year old, dilute tortie who is facing many challenges and until she arrived here two days ago, it is my belief that no one cared a whit about her.

Her journey is a long and difficult one. I have blogged about it on www.feralcatbehavior.com and will continue to do so.

But, in a nutshell, she has severe rodent ulcers, stomatitis, feline herpes, URI, UTI and fragile skin syndrome. Her legs may resemble chopsticks, but they carry the heart of a fighter. She has endured more than anyone ever should have to endure and the fact that she doesn't just lay down and sleep forever simply amazes me.

I had two options with her, euthanize her, or pay for treatments I really can't afford to save her. I chose to save her even though it meant going deeper into debt with this wonderful vet of mine.

I have been rescuing privately for over thirty years. I have seen a lot of horror in my time as to what people are capable of doing to stray cats. But with Shell, I not only see the horror, but she allows me to see the Hope.

She deserves a chance at a life for the first time in her life. I want to give her this chance, to be with her at every set-back and celebrate every tiny step forward.

I hope others will join me in her corner and give her the experience of knowing that yes, in this world, there are people who do care.
